Can Taking Calcium Tablets Lead To Kidney Stone Formation?

I have Thyroid and currently i am taking 1 tablet which 100mcg everyday morning. only one tablet per day. along with this, dr has asked me to take Macalvit 500 tablet. my surrounding people say that, if we take Calcium tablet after some years, we will have some stones in kidney. Is this true?

No, taking calcium does not generally cause stones unless there is already a problem with the kidneys or the glands that control calcium levels in the body. The body requires a certain amount of calcium in the diet every day, and the supplement you mention does not have an excessive amount. Sometimes thyroid problems can lead to osteoporosis (bone thinning) so this may be why your doctor recommended it. You should be able to take it without problems. Hope this answers your query.
