Can The Hole In The Macula Of Retina Cause Blindness?

I was just diagnosed with a possible hole in the macula of my R-eye with possible fluid drainage; ( my existing diagnoses are: Hashimotos Thyroiditis and Anxiety for which I am taking Lexapro 5 mg daily.)

What is the possible outcome if the diagnosis is verified by the ophthamologist? Could it lead to blindness? What type of treatment is necessary? (I have yet to follow-up, hopefully tomorrow.)

Thank you for your time.

Hello

Welcome to Health care Magic

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are diagnosed with hole in the macula.
This will not lead to complete blindness, but this will affect the vision and requires treatment by retinal surgery to close the macular hole.

Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for evaluation and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
