Can This Dosage Of Propylthiouracil Safe To Be Taken For Itchiness On The Hands?
My hands was itching on yesterday and I went to my endocrinologist because I thought it was the medicine. I started taking methimazole 10mg three times a day. he took me off of this yesterday because of the itching. He put me on propylthiouracil 50mg. He has me taking this medicine like 3 pills in the morning, 3 in the afternoon, 3 at bedtime. This equals up to 450 mg. Is this dosage to high since I was only taking 30 mg of the methimazole before he took me off
Hi. As per your case history of itching, my treatment advice is - 1. Dose of medicine should not be judged by its strength of milligrams or grams. 2. Each medication has different dose depending on its action and metabolism in body. 3. So continue propylthiouracil in prescribed dose. 4. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine for itching.
