Can Throat Infection Pass Into Bloodstream Through Pierced Tongue?

I got my tongue pierced recently. My throat was pretty sore for the following days as expected, but then I started getting jaw and ear pain. I have had tonsillitis in the past and the symptoms were very similar. I went to the doctor and I was diagnosed with tonsillitis. I m worried that the infection will get into my bloodstream through my new tongue piercing or something similar

Hi Thank for asking to HCM.

Jaw & ear pain are common in tonsillitis . There are rare chances of spreading infection from oral cavity to bloodstream after tongue piercing if oral hygiene is not maintained .

If I were your treating doctor, I would advice you Antiseptic Mouth Wash twice daily , anti inflammatory Ibuprofen & Vitamin C .
