I have hoshimotos. I feel like a may be pregnant. I have most of the symptoms. Last month my period was shorter than normal (2 days) I took a test just to be safe. It was negative. My symptoms have continued to worsen. I've taken 3 more test and they are all negative. Could my thyroid be the cause of false negatives?
Hi, Thanks for consulting us. No, Thyroid disorders do not effect pregnancy test results. Pregnancy tests look for a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). One part of this hormone is similar to Thyroid stimulating hormone ( TSH), but another part that we check while doing pregnancy test the Beta-unit is unique for hCG & is different from TSH. If you have doubts you may do a blood pregnancy test. Take care & consult a physician to optimize your thyroid functions. Best regards.
