Can Thyroid Problem Be Associated With Treat Swollen Ankles, fatigue And Hair Loss?

I am a very healthy and fit 65 year old woman but ... I am suffering from very swollen ankles (not sore), I feel tired all the time (I don't sleep well at all), my hairdresser told me my hair feels "sad" and it does and I am wondering if I might be suffering from a thyroid problem. Going to the Doctor is an absolute rarity for me but perhaps now may be the time. Thank you.

Hi, thank you for posting.

The symptoms you are experiencing tells us that you suffer from hypothyroidism syndrome.
This syndrome is manifested with weight gain, fatigue, cold extremities, dry skin and hair loss.

You need a thyroid scintigraphy and triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) hormone count.

I think you should contact endocrinologist.

Dr. Behar.
