Can Thyroid Testing Results Vary?

I have had low thyroid for 20 years and took meds every day. Now I was told I have hyperthyroid my family says thats crazy and I need a different doctor can my thyroid test vary from one to the other at different blood test? I need something I can show my children signed by a doctor telling them this can or not happen

If you have hypothyroidism and have taken meds for 20 years ,this means that you have a lot thyroid test results that show your low function of thyroid gland.If now the results of thyroid test show hyperthyroidis maybe you have excessive dose of Levothyroxine.This situation is called Iatrogen hyperthyroidism and in this case the solution is the reduction of the dose of levothyroxine.If i was your treating doctor i will order to repeat the thyroid test and than i will analise the dose of meds you have taken all this years with hypothyroidism.Hope I have answered your question.
