Hi my name is Cynthia im 19 years old from Maryland and I have a big concern...Im worried that I might not be able to get my toncils taken out..and the reason for that is I might be pregnant and I think I really need them out asap. I just got rid of strep throat and a couple of weeks ago and I think its coming back cause Ive started to get an ear infection I believe. As for my toncils ever seen I was a child one tonsil has always been big enough to touch my pallet and the on the other side u can hardly see the other one. It looks as if I only have one tonscil on one side..Im worried that if I am pregnant I wont be able to have the procedure..and Im wondering what effects that could have on me and if they can be severe? And Im also wondering that if I am pregnant what is the most the doctors can do for me about my tonsils?? Please help
I think it would be better if you postpone the tonsillectomy after you give birth. Being under anesthesia is not indicated in pregnancy and it has teratogenic effects on fetus making it likely to have deformities.
You need to take throat spry such jodox for disinfection. If the fever starts you may need to take antibiotics such erythromycin which can be taken during pregnancy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
