Can Tonsillectomy With Anemia Cause Any Problem?
19, female, 6 0, 160 pounds. I have suffered with tonsillitis for years now , I had anti biotics but they didnt make the tonsillitis go away. I am also anaemic and I want my tonsils out but the doctors said there might by problems as I am anaemic. I need some advice because I cannot live like this, they are sore and it hurts when i swallow, it is making my voice sound strange all the time. Also i have been told the operation will cost $8000!!?? I live in California.

Your doctors are right. In anemia operation is not advisable until it is an emergency.
So first you have to get treated for anemia with good medication like orofer xt or I. M injcetion of iron sucrose.
Meanwhile for tonsillitis antibiotic can be prescribed along with anti-inflammatory medication.
The operation cost varies according to the different hospitals. Therefore, I can comment much about operation cost but the mentioned value definitely seems high.
