Can Tonsillitis Lead To A Heart Problem ?

i have been sick with tonsillitis for about 3 days, my first two days, i had white yucky spots around both of my tonsils, i brushed hard, gargled for like 60secs per gargle (i did about 5 gargles per day) now, my tonsils are just inflamed. but recently, i m having chest pains.. not really severe, i think heart burns are a way to describe it, my friend told me that the infection that i had with my tonsils can be transferred to my heart.. and that got me scared to death. so i need to ask, is it possible? if so, what should i do? help me.. If the tonsillitis is caused from a streptococcal infection, and it sounds like that is the case because of the white dots, it can indeed, cause valvular heart disease. The bacteria can "seed" (implant themselves) in the valve leaflets and continue to grow. This can develop into a "vegetation" like growth and interfere with the function of the valve. Not in three days, however. But, if you have recurrent white spots and more pain, see a Dr. soon so that they can kill this nasty bacteria.

my 16 month old has had a runny nose for a couple of days, she has been putting her hand in her mouth alot and fussy. I checked her throat and there was some white on her tonsil, i m not able to get a good look though. No fever. Do you think it is more than a cold? She has had what the nurse calls eczema around her mouth on and off for a couple months, also small patches of it on the arm and leg creases...she is also getting all her molars.
