Can Tonsillitis Mediated Extensive Antibiotic Usage Result In Periods Irregularity?

My period is late and I m wondering if having tonsillitis twice this month has anything to do with it? I m extremely concerned my antibiotics might have caused this. I haven t been involved in any sexual matters apart from oral sex. For the sake of accuracy I will be taking a urine pregnancy test. Also, the average length of my menstrual cycle is 22 days. Is that normal?

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
Infections, antibiotics and stress will affects the hormonal levels in the body, which can result in menstrual irregularities (Either shorting or prolongation of cycles).
As you have taken antibiotics twice this month it would have prolonged your menstrual cycles.
As you have not indulged in sexual intercourse I don't think Urine pregnancy test is useful.
Menstrual cycles may vary from 22-35 days.
You can wait for another 7-10 days after that you can consult your gynecologist.
Thank you.
