Been using althea for months but switched to diane 35. After taking 21 day pack Althea, rested for 7 days, took a new pack of a different brand Diane-35 same 21 day pack, had unprotected sex during the first week, am I protected from pregnancy? Thank you.

Hello,
Thanks for submitting your question here.
You have switched over to another brand of pills containing the same constituent.
This pill will give you the similar protection and a change in brand does not alter either the protection efficacy or period.
Thus, sex done at first week is exclusively safe and does not bear any risk of pregnancy despite of the change in brand.
Sincerely,
Dr Sanjoy
