Can upper back pain be a sign of heart attack? My sister had a heart attack at 46 and my father died of heart attack at 60. I was just standing at the sink this morning and I had pain between my shoulder blades - no twisting or anything. Just a dull ache now but not muscular
Hello. Welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns.
It looks less like a heart problem but do what I advice to you. Usually in heart attack patients have central or left sided chest pain associated with uneasiness or perspiration. Pain usually last for 20-30 min and not subsided by rest.
The pain you have described is more like to be musculoskeletal in nature only.
But you have history of heart related issues in family you should go for cardiac work up. Go for ecg and 2d echo study which will give idea to your doctor if any heart disease is there or not.
Also do your routine blood tests like lipid profile, thyroid profile, blood sugar levels, CBC as you have family history.
So, most likely to be musculoskeletal pain but as family history is there Kindly do investigations as per I have advised.
Thank you. Have a nice day.
