Can Using Drugs During Pregnancy Cause Children To Have Hallucinations Upon Growing?

I have a cousin who smoked crack for practically the whole time she was pregnant and her son, who is 6 years now, complains that he hears people all around him, see black or dark images always surrounding him, cant be alone cuz he gets scared, and is always around his grandmother, who now has custody of him. Could this be because his mother smoked crack most of her pregnancy and what exactly is his condition called if any?

Hi,

Drug abuse during pregnancy can lead to many neurological and psychiatric problems in the child. It is difficult to say what this child is suffering from. He needs to be assessed in detail for a diagnosis. Brain imaging must also be done to look for brain lesions.

Best wishes.
