Can Wisdom Teeth Cause Throat Inflamation Or Swollen Lymph Nodes?
Hello. In about a month, I will be having all four wisdom teeth extracted. Recently, my throat has been feeling swollen and I've been having trouble swallowing. I was wondering if wisdom teeth can cause throat inflamation or swollen lymph nodes. In addition, I was wondering if tonsils can become inflamed due to wisdom teeth.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain if the gum flap over the wisdom tooth gets inflamed then there can be inflammation in the throat which can even involve the tonsils and there can be swollen lymph nodes under the jaw too..
There can also be radiating pain in throat, jaw, ear eye and side of head..
You should consult your dentist who advised you to get the wisdom teeth extracted and get evaluated and if the gum flap on one or both sides seems inflamed you can be given antibiotics like Augmentin and painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Doing warm saline gargles and maintaining a good oral hygiene can help.. Take a soft diet. In case if lymph nodes are inflamed massage them gently with the fingers in circular motion and do cold packs over them..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
