Can Withdrawal From Birth Control Pills Cause Irregular Periods?

I stopped taking birth control in June, 2011. I didn't have an actual period until December. Up til then random spotting. Now, when I have a bowel movement, I also have vaginal bleeding. The two periods that I seem to have had have started during sex and lasted about a week. What could be causing these problems?

Hi.

I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.

Actually birth control pills are advantageous with few side effects. Your symptoms may be due to the pills you have taken. It includes,
Spotting inbetween periods
Breast swelling or tenderness
weight gain
Stomach upset
Nausea
Mood changes
headaches and migraine.

Usually this will be alright in few months. If not consult a gynaecologist for further assistance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
