Can Withdrawal Of Benzodiazepine Cause Anxiety And Body Pain?
I stopped 10 years of use of benzodiazepine about 3 1/2 months ago. The problem was that I stopped it all of a sudden without tapering. I am now at an unbearable state of anxiety and physical pain. As I didn t prepare for withdrawal, my life is in limbo. Is it a good way that I start it again with lower dose and start the process of gradual reducing and monitoring the dose now after these 3 months of absence of the medication in my system?
I am pleased to hear that you have decided to stop taking your Benzodiazepine medications though sudden stopping is not the best way to stop. With my patients that have been using benzodiazepines fro a long time they have a physical addiction to the medication and can go through withdrawals. When I have a patient how wants to stop I start weaning them over 4 weeks or sometimes even longer depending on the amount they started with. My recommendations for you is to see your primary care doctor and have them start a proper weaning program so you can stop taking the Benzodiazepines.
