Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes I know a lot of you have seen my questions and all they are about is worrying heart disease but I have a big case of anxiety since Feb 06 so now I m suffering, worrying and thinking. Why or why not, can worrying cause heart disease? - Anxiety Nerd who NEEDS help :(
Don't beat yourself up about your concerns. This is a real concern. Anxiety troubles up to 83% of the population. That is a lot. I've heard people say that stress and anxiety (worry) can do horrible things to your body, however, I'm a nurse and the main cause for heart disease is diet, NOT worrying. Did something happen in Feb06 that caused this or it just seemed to appear since then? Either way, you should talk to a psychologtist or counselor. There are many ways to cope and manage stress and things of that nature. The thought process behind stress and anxiety causing health problems is still being studied. There is NO hard evidence that supports this theory. So don't think about that anymore. Eat right and do light exercise and you should be fine. :) Good Luck!
