Can You Explain The Pregnancy Scan Report. Advised To Take Out The Baby At The Earliest. Why?

Hi,
My Scan report says BPD:80mm , HC=298mm,AC=286mm & FL=65mm.
AFI=14
She is now 36weeks +3 days.
Is their any bit concern as doctor was saying that the baby has to be taken out at the earliest.
When we took the scan in 32 weeks every thing was normal but now parameter have come down.
Her BP is also normal.

Could you pl suggest on this.

Thanks,
Sampath

Thanks for posting your query.

I understand your concern fully well.
But I need more information to be able to give a meaningful answer to your query.

BP of mum is normal , that is very good.

If your doctor is worried about the baby's growth, you would have had two scans at a minimum interval of 2 weeks to find out interval growth.

The baby's growth is measured in numbers ( head size, tummy size and thigh bone length) and plotted on a graph.

If your doctor was concerned about baby's growth , Doppler study to check blood flow would have been done.

The fluid around baby ie AFI 14 is reassuring.

Once I get these details , I can tell you more.

Either way , if growth problem is suspected there is nothing much to gain by continuing pregnancy after 36 weeks.

It may be safer for baby outside than inside mum.
Ask mum to keep a check on baby's movements until delivery.

If she is not happy with movements, she should go to hospital immediately.

Hope this helps,
All the best.Take care.
