Cause For The Nails To Be Purple Like Bruised?
My daughter is 16. She s very athletic and has been playing softball and volleyball for the last 4 years straight The last 1 yr her toe nails are all purple like bruised. I m a runner and noticed my middle toes are bruised as we ll. we always have to keep our toes painted. What causes this?

Most likely the nail discoloration is due to subungual hematoma from the trauma of running/ competitive sports.
