Cause Of Shortness Of Breath While Taking A Bath?

Every time I take a bath, I experience shortness of breath. It is painful and cough inducing to breathe deeply. I had asthma as a child and several case of pneumonia. Do you think this is caused by the moisture in the air somehow inhibiting O2/CO2 transfer in my alveoli?

Hi,

If you have a regular problem while taking bath, avoid using the shower, water vapour might be causing the obstruction.

Visit ER, get all the tests done(CBC, X-Ray chest, Imaging tests) to rule out COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, pleurisy, pneumonia, bronchitis or tuberculosis).

When Asthma gets complicated, it presents as COPD. Get evaluated & treated at the earliest.

In the meantime, avoid addictions if any, continue to take the medications prescribed, stay away from stress/anxiety, try staying in the fresh air, avoid staying in air pollution. Do regular exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
