I am female 30. 33 weeks pregnant. Feotus scanned at 29 weeks, report said dilated lateral ventricles. Left atrial 17.3,mm. Right side 14.5 m. Another scan to confirm says: Right posterior horn of lateral ventricle 17.5 mm. Left posterior horn of lateral ventricle 8.7 mm. No dilatation of 3rd and 4th ventricle. Cavum septum pellucidum vaguely seen. Will be baby be ok, normal? What is the prognosis ?
Hi,
From your first USG report, it seems that both lateral ventricles are enlarged, however your second USG report says that only right horn is enlarged. My suggestion for you is register with some good fetal medicine centre, have a proper congenital anomaly scan to find out other anomalies if present. They might consider you for amniocentesis to figure out the reasons like genetic, infections etc. Prognosis depends on how venticulomegaly behave as the pregnancy continues. Post delivery shunting operation is one of the treatment modality.
All the best,
