Chest Tightness And Burning, Used Goop Off. What Are The Long Term Side Effects?
i was using a product called Goop Off that contains Xylene and Toulene and although I ventilated the area with an open window, my chest feels tight and slightly burns. Is there anything I can do or are there long term side effects from breathing these chemicals. I was exposed directly for about 5 mins (close) and indirectly (still in the room but not close) for about 20 mins
Pls keep the area well ventillated and keep inhaling fresh air only. Direct exposure to 05 minutes will not have long lasting side effects.
Pls drink lots of water and fluids so that the metabolic products of Xylene and Toluene will not accumulate in the body and they get flushed out in the urine and exhaled breath. The burning in chest could be due to
hyperacidity caused by inhaled chemicals for which you may take over the counter Antacids and Avoid oily /spicy food and Avoid Smoking and Spirits(Alcohol) if you are using them.
Long Term use of these chemicals (Toluene/Xylene/Benzene) are Carcinogenic in nature.
If the Chest Tightness does not subside pls consult a physician .
regards,
dr Lt Cdr ASN Bhushan.
