I am 43 years old, not a big smoker but used to having 1-2 lights each day in evening. Reasonably fit, run around 12-15 miles a week. I am having this problem of phlem when I cough from the lowere throat/ chest area. The excretion usualyl comes in 1-2 small lumps- dark green / grey in color. The occurrence is 2-3 times a day including morning time. No fever or other noticeable condition. What could it be ?
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M.Forum. There are many reasons for cough with phlegm. As,1 1 Bronchitis, ( may be due to allergy, smoking) Bronchiectasis ( large amount of cough present in this condition) lung abscess ( phlegm with greenish or yellowish color), may be fowl smelling. Tuberculosis
2 Asthmatic allergic bronchitis ( asthma)
Since you are physically fir so more chances of allergic bronchitis. So please consult a physician and get in X ray chest with blood complete examination and take a treatment. Avoidance complete stoppage of smoking.
Hope I have answered your query. If further any question I will be happy to help. Dr. HET
