Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Child. Terrible UTI, Low White Blood Count. Recommended Urologist And Using Of Catheter. Necessary For 3 Year Old?
Hello my grandchild is in the hospital right now she had a terrible urinary infection it went throughout her whole body white cell blood count is still very low her pediatrician said she would have to see a urologist and also talked about her having a catheter she is only three years old I don't understand why she would need the catheter?
I am sorry to know that your granddaughter is having UTI and it is septicaemia (spreading to the whole body) now. As you have not mentioned the clinical condition of your granddaughter it is very difficult for me to give any reason for catheterizing her. Possible causes for inserting a catheter in the urinary bladder is to monitor the urinary output or to flush her bladder with some anti-septic solution.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
