Child Born With Hemorrhage III Grade, And Respiratory Failure. Was On Thyronorm. After Years Now Kid Diagnosed To Be Weak On The Right Side. Treatment And Guidelines?

Re : Pediatric Endocrinologist and Pediatric Neurology
My 04 year kid at the time of birth had few problems
1.Hemorrhage III grade 2. Respiratory failure 3.Hypothyroid
Treatment give: Ventilated for one week along with life saving drug etc.Bleeding subsided and taking thyronorm 75 mg. ( Stable condition)
Present Status: Normal condition going to school Nursery class. ( Regular check with Pediatric Endocrinologist Doctors)
Teacher complaint after observing for one month, he is falling down toward right side. Reason given by teacher is right side of body is week compared to left side. He needs physiotherapy.
Kindly advice line of action before physiotherapy. Should I first do the CT Scan of brain and then decide ? Consult Pediatric Neurology

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Yes, your son needs to be thoroughly examined by a doctor and, if required, a neurologist before investigations are done so that appropriate investigations can be ordered. A detailed physical examination will reveal a lot of things and appropriate management can be started which will include physiotherapy.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son an early recovery.

Regards,
