Hello! A positive Widal's test for typhoid will show a four fold rise of 'O' and 'H' antigens of Typhoid or Paratyphoid bacilli - e.g, TO from 1:40 to 1: 160 - Try to get get hold of this report of your son even if the actual diagnosis is not mentioned in his hospital discharge slip. Due to antibiotic resistance to chloramphenicol, typhoid fevers are now treated in Instituitionalised facilities with injection MONOCEF (ceftriaxone) @ 1 gram once a day for a 30 kg person for 5 to 7 days; try to locate the same in the drug bills which you have paid for the nursing home.
