Child Fell And Had Bleeding Nose. Has Headache, Swollen Face And Bruise On Forehead. Suggestions?
My 6 year old daughter fell down face first onto our hardwood floor. Her nose was bleeding for just under 10 minutes and finally stopped. She complained about a headache and being very light headed. After about 30 minutes I started to notice the right side of her face swell up and now there is hard bruising around her forehead , eyes, nose and cheek. Shes tired and heading to bed soon. Will she be okay?
please note that the severity of local injury and brain injury in patients with trauma can be judged from the associated comaplaints. These are bleeding from nose, ear, vomiting, loss of consciousness, seizures, weakness of legs/hands etc. Based upon the symptoms that you have provided, the chance of brain insult is low, but need scans to rule out that possibility. I suggest you to consult a local doctor and get scan of the head with bone window which will clarify the degree of brain and or local injury/fracture. If trhe scans come as normal, she will improve with simple analgesics.
Best wishes
