Child Got Hit On Head. Soft Spot Has Sunken. Anything Serious?
Hi, i have a two month old baby. Earlier when we were lying on the bed, i was trying to take a photo of us from above and my ipod accidentally slipped and hit her. I wasn't sure where cause i automatically picked her up. She was crying on and off then i tried feeding her, she settled down. While feeding her, i was feeling her head to see if there are bumps and noticed that her soft spot has sunken. Im really worried, is she ok?
Head trauma is a common thing in children. Fortunately the majority of such traumas are not severe and may present only with contusion of the scalp.
However, for a two months old baby, head trauma is potentially more serious given that the child's skull is not completely form and the underlying brain is still under potential threat.
It is less likely that they could be a problem with your child as she would have been presenting with increase sleep, continuous pains and weakness.
However, if the weight of the ipod was considerable, it would be necessary to do a transfontanelle echography to examine the brain.
