Child Had Adenoid And Tonsil Removal. Tries To Unblock Ears. Will Otovent Balloon Help?
Hello. My son who is 4.5 years old had his adenoids and tonsils removed 6 weeks ago, but he is constantly trying to unblock his ears as if there is something there. I took him to the doctor but she can t see anything, I m thinking that he might have fluid in his ears, do you think that otovent ballon might help with this or should I do something more...Thank you in advance....
I think that you need not worry about this problem. Your son is trying to equalize the pressure of the middle ear with the pressure outside. When the doctor says that there is nothing wrong then ask your son to chew something which should help him. Steam inhalation will also help him by reducing the swelling around the opening of the eustechian tube and help him "unblock" the ears. There is no harm in trying the Otovent balloon which also does the same work.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
