Child Had Fever. Now Has Nasal Congestion, Blood In Mucus. Need For Concern?

Hi, my 11 yr old daughter had a fever of 101.9 on Friday evening. The fever broke that night and she hasn't had one since. However, she is still congested and when she woke up she was clearing her throat and spit out some mucus that had some blood in it. Is this something we should be concerned about or is it normal to have a little blood when they are sick? Our doctor's office is closed tomorrow. Thank you.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Congestion is usually associated with infection in children.
Fever was due to infection.
Congestion , mucus with mild cough ( may or not) with blood is a common feature in throat infection.
Good thing is that there is no fever.
Only hot saline gargles or gargles with antiseptic solution will clear all remaining symptoms.
Hope I have answered your question.
If further any question I will help.
Good luck for child .
