Child Had Surgery For Hirschsprung Disease. Not Having Any Bowel Movement, Rectum Not Opening. Remedy?
my son is 4yrs old, he has a surgry about hirschsprung disease, already 7 months, but after surgry 7 months he still not going to poop normal, like he dont have bowmovemen. not at all . he trying to push his face is red, but his rectum is not open like he dont know how to open or even he can not relaxe him self to open. my question is why he is not getting better.
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. Surgery in Hirschprung disease involves removing non peristaltic colon and connecting the normal segment with rectum. The prognosis of surgery depends on the length of involved segment and the intact part of rectum and sphincter. Give him dietary rich fiber diet. Ask him to drink plenty of water. And I suggest you to consult the pediatric surgeon who did the surgery for follow up advise and to assess the function of colon after surgery. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
