Child Has Bad Temper, Trouble Socializing, Self-destructive Behavior. Help

I have a 12 year old grandchild who s parents smoke and take a lot of drugs, in the last 4 months she has seen her 5 week old niece die and her aunty miscarry at 6 months. she has always been a very highly strung girl. However she has in the last 3 months been very bad tempered not socialising much,lots of trouble at school and even once cut into her arm with a pin. her parents are going to try to get her to see a councillor but she says she is not going.want to help but don t know what advice to give her without upsetting her.

Hi,

I think the parents should set a good example to bring up this child.

The councillor if not wanted by her, then the ideal person is the one who she trusts.

You can see whether she will listen to you ,provided you have been close to her.

At least if some one can find what is bothering her,( events at home), possible access to drugs taken by parents,school events ,etc,it can help to council.
