Hi Sir,

My 1.5yrs daughter is having cold and cough. She developed this almost 10 days back and got okay within 2 days after giving cough syrup. But then I had chest conjunction which resulted in spreading infection to her. She again developed cough and cold. I nebulized her with asthalin and gave alex-p. Now is it okay to give her clavam-bid?

Hello
Thank you for placing your query on Health Care Magic
Although Clavam is a safe antibiotic, it should not be started with out consulting a pediatrician. Indication for starting it would be any signs of bacterial infection which includes yellow sputum, raised counts of white blood cells or raised levels of an infection marker like C-Reactive Protein seen in blood test, any changes in X-Ray or fever persisting beyond duration for a normal viral fever. So I would strongly recommend that you visit your pediatrician for a proper diagnosis and prescription. If it has been started by a pediatrician, then rest assured, it is a safe antibiotic and usually prescribed for such infections. Hope that helps.
God bless you

Hello. You must never give any antibiotic to your child unless and until doctor has prescribed it after exanimation of child. Be on safe side always. Its better to visit doctor for your prob so that he can rule out wether its asthma or just chest congestion. Whether there is any wheez or not? Please visit your doctor as soon as possible. Thank you. Take care.
