Child Has Fever, Fatigue, Loss Of Appetite, Vomiting. Is It Bacterial Or Parasitic?
Hi there. I have a 5 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. My daughter had N/V, high fever 103+, fatigue and loss of appetite for a period of 24 hours 10 days ago and then appeared to recover. Now she has vomited twice in the last 24 hours with no other symptoms. My son has has diarrhea and abdominal cramps for the last 36 hours that progressed from brown to yellow and now is sea foam green and frothy. They are well hydrated and have good appetites and energy levels. Should I be concerned that their illness might have a bacterial or parasitic element that requires further intervention at this point?
Repeated vomiting and diarrhoea suggests intestinal infection. Since both your children are having this problem there could be a common source of infection, either the water or food. I suggest that you get their stool examined and accordingly give them medication.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
