Child Has Hole Above Ear Since Birth. Swelling, Redness, Pus Discharge, Painful. How To Relieve Pain?
My daughter 5 yoa has a small hole above her left ear since birth that is now swelling, red around it and the hole has puss or a smelly yellow fluid that has filled the hole. It is not draining but she has pain on touch and her ear is sensitive when air hits it it hurts her. What can I do to relieve her pain and what is the hole called and common causes of that?

Hi,thank you for your interest in HCM.As your daughter,aged 5 years is having a hole above her left ear since birth which is now swelling and showing signs of inflammation,filled with a smelly yellow pus,it may be a sinus arising from underlying bone,may be mastoiditis or osteomyelitis and it needs consultation of an ENT surgeon who shall evaluate the child with necessary x-ray and treat accoringly.
