Child Has Loose Foul Smelling Bowel Movements. Could It Be Something More Than Lactose Intolerance?
Yes hello my 20 month old son has been having 1-2 loose yellow foul smelling BMs daily. We are switching to lactose free milk today. He is other than the above fine. His appetite varys on a daily basis but will still ask for food and juice. Just think its somthing more than Lactose intolerance , but hes afebrile no nausea , emesis and remains playfull
Hi
Thank you for your query,
Since how many days your child is having loose stools? As your child is having only 1 to 2 loose motions per day you can continue the regular formula milk and you can give oral rehydrating solutions to prevent dehydration and you can add probiotic and consult your Pediatrician for further inquiry for the need of any specific treatment like antibiotic and any need for lactose free milk.
Hi.
Thanks for your query,
as you said your son is having 1 to 2 motions per day,he is active, afebrile so you need not to worry, and there is no need of giving lactose free milk.Take care of his hydration give him oral rehydration solution sip by sip after each loose stools, also give coconut water, curd, mashed banana, mashed potato,YOu should also give lactobacillus sachet for 2 to 3 days,
avoid giving fruit juice. In case his symptoms continue take doctors advise.
Your son will be fine.
God bless.
