Child Has Mottled Hands And Feet. Started Inhaler For Persistent Cough. Advice?
my 16 month old son suffers terribly with mottled hands and feet (sometimes it can be his chest and mouth). they can go really blue with blotchy red/almost orange tinge. this can happen even when his body temperature is normal/cold or hot and inside where it is warm or outside wrapped up in gloves with a blanket over him. he has been started on an inhaler recently for a persistant cough since 3 months old. he has had countless check ups where his capillary refill can be normal at 2 or bad at 5. on examination his lungs and heart present well.should i be asking for further testing as this has been going on for over a year now and i feel like i am being treated as an over cautious mother but i have this niggle that there is something more going on.
From your detail history i understand that your child has no heart or lung issues except that he has been started on inhalers.I don't thing inhalers would have any connection with the skin color changes.
Most probably your child has a delicate skin through which one can see ongoing changes in vascular network which could be due various reasons like temperature changes ,stress ,injury or even in infection.I would suggest that you can relax at present and as he matures his skin would become more tougher and such changes will not be obvious then.
