Child Has Precocious Puberty. Leuprolide Stimulation Test Shows High FSH. How Can LH Not Be High?
Hi, my 5 year old daughter has been diagnosed with precocious puberty. We just received the results back from the Leuprolide stimulation test and results showed estrogen and LH are normal but FSH is high. Endo is now having us go in for brain MRI to check for pituitary tumor. My question is how can FSH be high and not LH if the two are released together and work together to get the ovary ready for estrogen? Also, if her estrogen level is normal, then what could be causing her to have breasts, hair growth and vaginal discharge? I'm also having trouble understanding which hormones are released for the bone growth and the hormonal relevance there. Any information would be great.

firstly.
precocious puberty(pp) is caused due to cns(pituaitary tumour),hypothyroid,and tumours of ovary,adrenals and excess androgen.
fsh and lh are relesed by pituatary.estrogen by ovary.
with ur daughter high fsh level could be attributed to cns cause.
fsh stimulates breast development and uterus .and lh pubic and ax.hair.
normal lh with high fsh could be contributd to developng breast and uterus and normal lh to developd ax. and pubic hair.
endocrinlogist has adviced mri for ur daughter which is the next step of investin.
my advice is get a thyroid profile if nt done already.usg abdomen and pelvis to look for adrenals and ovaries if nt done.
