Child Has Purple Lining Around Eyebrow After Hitting Wall. How Long To Heal?

HI my son was running with his friend and ran into the corner of the wall with full force. This was back in Feb. there was no major head injury but 8 months later he still had a purple line aroung the eyebrow area where he hit the wall, I asked his ped. about it and he said it could take years to go away. Is he right or is it there forever? Is there any creams I can use or massage it anything to help it heal?

Pediatrician 's  Response
it will go away on its own after some time. there was extravasated blood in the tissues following injury which stained the tissues. for this there was this change in colour. so in due course of time , it will go away by its own.
