Child Having Cold, Fever, Took Syrup, No Relief. Need Doctor?
Hi my granddaughter is four years old and she has a cold and a fever of 101.3 and she eating and drinking but the fever hasn t broke since yesterday it was 100.0 yesterday so I want to know what to do should I take her back to the doctor he gave her some cough syrup for her cold but her was just 99.4 when she seen him on monday
I am so sorry to hear about this fever. The most common cause of fever in children are viral infections. They often stay febrile for a few days before getting away. I will not suggest that you get any more consultations as long as she is able to eat and drink without any difficulties. If new symptoms should set in, then I will suggest that you get a doctors attention only then. Did the doctor give you some fever medication like ibuprofen or tylenol? if not , consider giving some to your child to keep the fever controlled and avoid excessive fluid loss and maybe convulsions.
I hope this helps and I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask more questions if need be. Dr. Ditah, MD
