Child Having Frequent Cold, Cough With Wheezing. Inhaling Budecort, Taking Levolin, Montair. Treatment Correct?

Sir,

My 2 yr old son is suffering from frequent cough-cold with spasm/wheezing. Inhalling Budecort 100 (2 puffs) twice daily and Levolin SOS. Had also medicated with Montair 4 for 3 months which stopped in Sept'13. He is again suffering from same problem, but is active. Please let me know whether this treatment is in line or any else may be prescribed.

Hi and thanks for the query,
The child should certainly be checked for acute bronchiolitis. This is a condition in children that are similar in terms of symptoms to asthma. Children with this condition are predisposed to develop asthma later in life. The drugs prescribed are compatible with this condition. I do think the drugs are very appropriate and you should respect strictly this prescription do not fail to report any unusual findings to your doctor. Vaccinate the child appropriately too to prevent recurrent viral infections in the upper respiratory tract. Kind regards
