Child Having Lumps On The Neck, Behind The Ear, Do Not Move Or Pain, Fatigue, No Fever. Taking Stratterra Daily. What Could It Be?

Hello, I am concerned because I have found 3 hard new lumps on my 13 year old daughters neck , on the right side. Two of the lumps are behind her right ear about pea size and one is about 3 inches below her ear about nickel in size. They do not move around and are not painful. No fever , night sweats , but more fatigued that usual. She takes Stratterra daily. I do not know if they have grown because I just found them. I have made an appointment to see her physician but want to know if she should go ASAP!

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello!!
These lumps that you are feeling is most likely to be lymph nodes. It occurs due any infection in the head and neck region. Any child until puberty is prone to upper respiratory infection and this in turn lead to enlarged lymph nodes. If there is dandruff then the nodes can enlarge. There isnt anything to be alarmed about it as they are asymptomatic. She can visit the physician to confirm that they are benign.

I hope you found my response to be helpful and informative. If you have any additional concerns I would be happy to address them.

Regards
Dr Divya

hello, your daughter has swollen lymph glands.there could be many causes, most commonly infections in the scalp, dandruff, infections in the ear canal, infections of the throat.plz see your doctor, get her ears, nose, throat, head and neck examined to detect a source of infection.if she has an infection, she will be prescribed antibiotics.most of these pts do well.if the lymph gland swellings persist,an FNAC will be done to get a diagnosis.FNAC --Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology.cells from the glands are studied using a microscope. dont worry she will be ok.at the same time please visit your doctor for treatment asap.a health issue should not be neglected. i hope everything will be fine and your daughter gets well soon. dr praveen.
