Child Having Protein In Urine, High Triglycerides, Enlarged Spleen. Possible Cause?

My 13 year old son had protein in his urine at his school physical. A retest still showed protein and bloodwork showed high triglycerides also, A sonogram showed an enlarged spleen. Had more bloodwork done but our pediatrician wants us to wait until he gets back in town to go over results, ( 2 weeks) Very concerned and would like some input as to what could cause these symptoms.

Hi Dear

Welcome to Platform of Health Care Magic,

High triglycerides in blood with Protien in the Urine, this scenario in this age requires through investigations like ;

Urine Routine exam,M/E
24 hour urinary protiens,
KFT,LFT,Lipid profile. Sugar level.

UTI, Nephrotic syndrome, Nephritis etc to be ruled out with these investigations.

Some cardiac investigations like ECG, ECHO also to be considered.
Blood Pressure to be monitored regularly.

Many times those who do lot of heavy exrecises may also pass some protien in their urine.
Triglyceridemia is now days is quite common in obese children without kidney derangement.

Paediatric Nephrologist to be consulted for interpretation of such reports.

Hope the query is answered

Thanks
