Hello ,
Welcome to Healthcare magic forum.
Please do not panic.Your child seems to be most probably suffering from a viral infection and a
petechial rash.
Petechiae are tiny purplish dots appearing on skin due to bleeding from very minute blood vessels under the skin. The
cause may vary from minor local trauma to generalised infection, sepsis to even a
bleeding disorder.
However the description of your childs symptoms make me think of a viral infection to be the most probable cause wherein there might be cough ,cold , mild fever, headache,
malaise, petechial rash etc.
Most viral infections run their course and resolve on their own in a week or two, with or without supportive symptomatic treatment like analgesics for pain& fever , antihistaminics & antitussive for the rash, cold& cough as per doctors prescription.
Rest, plenty of fluids and a nutritious diet help in faster recovery.
Sometimes if the child is having any underlying
nutritional deficiency, hereditary bleeding disorders or immunocompromised status then even simple infections need aggressive treatment or else they get complicated like causing
internal bleeding, spread of infection, organ damage etc.
In such cases the child usually will have severe symptoms like
high fever, worsening cough, widespread rash, blood in stools or urine or sputum, difficulty in breathing, pain in abdomen etc.
In your child , the situation at present doesn't seem worrisome and you may wait and watch for a couple of days till your routine pediatricians appointment.Infact it's likely to decrease in the next couple of days if it's a minor infection. If in case, your child develops any new symptoms as mentioned above, do seek prompt consultation.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing your child a speedy recovery.
Regards
