Child Having Solid Stools But Yellowish Watery Diarrhea Seen. Eats Home Food And Gerber Food

My grandson is 7 months old eats only homefresh baby food and an occasional gerber babyfood. For the past 2 days he has been fussy and his stools are solid but with yellowish water diarrhea soiled in the diaper as well with a very chemical smell. He still eats and drinks well no fever, no change in his diet. I know dehydration can become a problem as well if it continues

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Dehydration is the main problem with loose stools.

Monitoring and maintaining the hydration status is the main area of treatment in diarrhea.

I advise you to give sips of oral rehydration solutions like Pedialyte to maintain his hydration.

Probiotic and zinc supplementation help to decrease the loose stools.

Consult the Pediatrician for the assessment of the child and for the prescription of medication.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
