Child Having Tender Tummy With Pain At Regular Intervals. Having Inflammation And Swelling In Glands. Advise?
My son keeps getting pain in his lower tummy mainly to his right hand side. It s been on and off now for quite some time. I took him to the doctor and he pressed his side and it was tender. He told me it was glands that swell and get inflamed. He always complains of his tummy. His bowel movements are normal and he goes maybe twice a day I am still worried about him as he would cry with the pain
How long is he having pain abdomen? Does he have fever, vomiting? When the doctor pressed that area did he wince with pain?
Pain abdomen associated with tenderness needs further evaluation.
Usual cause of pain in right lower abdomen associated with tenderness is due to appendicitis. But there will be associated symptoms like fever, vomiting.
Some infections like amoebiasis can present with pain in that region. Usually it presents with dysentery, low grade fever.
Have urine microscopy and stool examination for cysts and ova done.
Ultrasound abdomen will be useful to rule out any major problems. How ever appendicitis is usually diagnosed based on symptoms and examination findings.
