Hi, The medication which you have given to you baby girl is not exactly for the indication for viral infection. Most of the time viral infection is self limiting and start regerssing after some days of infection. The treatment given for viral infection is mainly for the symptomatic management of the condition, like if some one has fever and body aches than antipyretic and pian killeres are given and if there is symptoms of congestion and nasal discharge that antihistaminics are given. Apart from medical treament many no pharmacological interventions are also important in case of viral infections like bed rest, steam inhalation and having plenty of water. These intervention also help in regressing the condition fast. Now since you have mentioned that your baby has bad cough with chest congestio and some time also breathless during sleep. I would recommend you to consult a pedriatician for this condition as these features are for severe viral infectio and need careful evaluation and than treatment can be started. Thanks and take care.
