Child Hit Head After Falling. Heard Crack Sound In Neck. Any Cause Of Concern?

My 3 1/2 year old son fell from about 3 feet high onto his head. I heard a little cracking sound in his neck. He cried immediately and after holding him for about a minute, he got silent, had a completely blank stare on his face for about 20 seconds until he snapped out of it and then started crying for about another 10 minutes. He seemed fine after that, went to bed for the night about 2 hours later. Is there any cause for concern? Thanks!

Hello,

Your son was hit on the head, following which there were no obvious complications. In these circumstances you need not rush to a doctor. But if he develops or you notice any of these symptoms you should immediately visit a doctor - vomiting, abnormal movements(fits), excessive sleepiness, disorientation, headache. If there is pain or swelling on any part of the head and neck get it checked by a doctor.
