Child Is Having Cough. Had Fever, Given Calpol Drops. Suggest Medicine For Cough?

Hello Sir, My son (2 yrs old) is having cough for past 4 days. He had fever for first 2 days, we gave calpol drops and fever is not there now. For cough we give homemade medicines like thulsi water etc., Since cough is still there, what medicine can we give. It is now rainy season in bangalore. Will it reduce automatically in few days or do we need to give some medicine?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.
For cough you can give an expectorant like Ascoril syrup.
But clinical examination is important to assess the lungs for any abnormal sounds like wheezing which may require nebulization.
Hence I suggest you to consult the doctor.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
